I absolutely loved this kit. The detail is superb (this is the Profipack boxing, so comes with coloured photo-etch, paint masks for the canopy/wheels and a large decal sheet) and the fit is excellent, only the engine-to-wing joins needing some filler. The gun-nose and wheels are Brassin resin replacements, which fit the kit perfectly. The build was for Tamiya magazine, which is why there are no swastikas on the tail, as the magazine is sold in countries where the symbol is banned.

Have to agree with Mike D, that is awesome. Cool

The shark mouth is unusual, I don't think I've see plain red ones before on any aircraft. Plain but striking.

Aside from the fact that this is another superb build, I find I learn a lot more about how the real aircraft was engineered. For example, I had no idea that is how the forward gun magazines were loaded. I seen wartime pics of the 110 with the nose guns exposed, but never with the magazines opened. Very cool what you find out with a wonderful model like this.

Simply excellent. The 110 is always a favorite!

This aircraft was originally an all-black night fighter (before being painted for marine operations), so maybe they figured white in the shark mouth would be too visible in the dark?

Sounds logical. Either way, it's a great model and a fantastic build.

Agree with all the prior posts. I did not realize the ammo feeds were set up in this way. Thanks for posting.

Its beautifully done Migrant. Cool

Interestingly HM have just announced in their Aug release cat your exact aircraft (well nearly).

I note that your aircraft is a II Gruppe ME110 from NJ.G 1. Which is interesting as I am doing a bit of research on the release.

The aircraft was applied a special scheme for a specific Operation, namely OPERATION Donnerkeil. Some 30 ME 110s from NJ.G 1 were allocated to the Operation. It was the air component for the well known "Channel Dash" conducted by German capitol Ships in Feb 42.

Unfortunately, HM have indicated this is a IV Gruppe aircraft and in my research I have found links to Gruppe II and IV for Operation Donnerkeil. I guess both could have allocated aircraft to the operation, but what has complicated things more is references I have found indicating IV Gruppe was raised Oct 42, months after the Donnerkeil Operation.

Which is a bugger!!!

Did you happen to do any research on this rather extraordinary scheme and beautiful build Migrant?

Thanks PBR. No additional research, I simply went with Eduard's colour/decal recommendations.
