Hobby Master 1/72 Air Power Series
HA3101
Convair F-102 Delta Dagger
317th FIS, 21st Composite Wing,
Alaskan Air Command, Elmendorf AFB Alaska 1968
Limited 2600 Units

August 2010 Release

The 317th Fighter Interceptor Squadron was the new designation given to the 317 Fighter Squadron in 1951. It traded its F-86D Sabre Dogs for F-102 Delta Daggers in November, 1956. In August, 1957, the squadron relocated from its base in Yuma, Arizona to Elmendorf, Alaska. During the height of the cold-war, the squadron's F-102s were tasked with defending Southern Alaska and Northwestern approaches to the United States. The squadron continued to fly the Delta Dagger until its eventual de-activation in December, 1969.

I picked this model up back in September of 2010 and have been very happy with this effort by Hobby Master. This was the first release of the F-102 tooling and overall has only seemed to garner praise from collectors. The only issue with HM's F-102 is that some of the later releases suffered from pitot probes that were a little on the short side. This was also one of the first Hobby Master Models to engineer the landing gear as separate inserts which is also true with the weapons bay.

Overall just an excellent model. Very Highly Recommended.

I bought mine when they first came out as I thought it was such an iconic scheme for the F-102.
