I dropped into a local hobby shop, found an in-box Matchbox P-38, silver with D-Day stripes, for $15.  Snapped it up!

Nice! I found some of the other planes in that series in a food store in Buffalo, NY. They were cheap but perfect. You never know where they will turn up.

I know that I like mine.  The only issue is with the leading edge of the wing inside the engines is flat rather than being tapered to a sharp edge.  Other than that (and the fact the model is rather dated now), the Matchbox P-38 is a nice model to own.
