This is the first of the HobbyBoss Easy Build kits that I tried, and I was really impressed. The parts breakdown was a little unusual, in that the entire wing was moulded integrally with the lower fuselage. The fit was so good that when I did a trial dry-run, I could barely prise them apart again.

But I was amazed at the detail for such a simple kit, including really nice wheels and better wheel well detail than I've seen in much more expensive/complex 109 kits.

Unfortunately the cockpit was pretty bare, bereft of any sidewall detail or instrument panel. Rather than scratch build I took the lazy way out and printed some flat panels on my inkjet, and glued them inside. Through the fairly thick canopy it actually looked quite convincing.

I finished it in a captured US scheme. Photos showed heavy chipping on the spinner and roughly painted out Luftwaffe markings.

I really enjoyed this kit and would happily build another. It's a great way to quickly arrive at the painting/decalling stages (the parts I enjoy most).

A terrific build and a beautiful paint job. The way you handle a 1/72 scale amazes me.

Looks great!  Love the cockpit treatment - may have to do that too.  Where did you get the images of the interior?

I've got the Hobby Boss Bf-109E just sitting there waiting to put together.  Mine is prepainted in the desert "spinach" scheme.  I've got to get back to it sometime soon - I hate having partially made kits just sitting around gathering dust.

Thanks for sharing this one Migrant.  Unusual scheme doing the captured bird in US markings - I absolutely love it!

I designed the cockpit images myself; if anyone wants a .pdf copy just PM me your e-mail address and I'll send it to you.

The 109E is a fun build pmm, I've also built that in captured markings and will post pics later.

That is so cool. I love it. It looks like an expensive kit. Top-notch work.
